2016 Walk for the Docs FMF

The rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of those participating in the Walk for the Docs of Tomorrow on Saturday, November 12th, at Family Medicine Forum in Vancouver.

A strong crowd set out early in the morning with blue umbrellas in tow for the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)’s annual 5-kilometre walk organized by the Foundation for Advancing Family Medicine (FAFM).

Thank you to all of our walkers, runners, and donors for engaging in this important initiative and raising more than $16,000 in total. The event helps support the $10,000 medical student scholarships the CFPC and the FAFM offer annually to students at each of Canada’s 17 medical schools.

The Walk for the Docs also includes a friendly fundraising competition between Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIGs) at each medical school. This year Memorial University of Newfoundland’s FMIG collected the most in pledges, at $9,130, which marks the team’s third win in a row. The winning team receives a trophy, $1,000, and team jackets. Congratulations, and thank you to all of the FMIG teams!

See you at the Walk for the Docs of Tomorrow next year in Montreal.
