Family Physicians in the 21st Century

Posted · Add Comment

Why did I become a family physician? How can I provide health care for my patients without compromising that same opportunity for future generations? Why should my patients trust me with their health and safety? Do I understand my impact on the community?

These are just some of the questions Sister Elizabeth M. Davis, BA, Bed, MA, MHSc, LLD, challenged family physicians to ask themselves during her keynote presentation on Thursday at FMF. She is grateful to family physicians for taking on tremendous responsibilities. At the same time she wants to ensure they are fully aware of the extent of these responsibilities, and use their power responsibly.

Sister Elizabeth’s remarks will surely resonate in the minds of the audience as they relate to their patients with a new, broader perspective.

The CFPC-Scotiabank Lectureship Award was presented to Sister Elizabeth for her remarkable contributions to the advancement of health care for Canadians.
