The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the CFPC Medical Student Scholarships and the Indigenous Medical Student Scholarship. The scholarships, each valued at $10,000, were presented during the opening ceremonies on Thursday, November 13th.

Seventeen CFPC Medical Student Scholarships, one for each Canadian medical school, were awarded to outstanding medical students with career interests in family medicine. The Research and Education Foundation (REF) of the CFPC sincerely appreciates the generous contributions of Scotiabank, the members and staff of the College, and all the individual donors who have made these scholarships possible.

A new award for 2014, the Indigenous Medical Student Scholarship recognizes a top First Nations, Métis, or Inuit medical student who has shown an interest in or a commitment to a career in family medicine. Ms Shaye Lafferty, University of Calgary, is the first student to receive this award, which is supported by the REF through the generosity of Scotiabank, Chief Shawn-A-in-chut Atleo, and members of the CFPC.

Read more about these medical student leaders on the CFPC website or view the Showcase of Honourees, at the REF/Honours and Awards Booth at College Square in the Exhibit Hall and at the registration area.
