The College’s Research and Education Foundation (REF) is pleased to announce that once again, the Silent Auction and Walk for the Docs events during FMF raised record amounts for the REF.

The Silent Auction ran throughout FMF at the REF booth in College Square and offered more than 100 items up for bid. Winners of the items were determined on Saturday, November 9th at 12:30 pm. If you had the winning bid, you should already have been contacted. At final tally, the Silent Auction raised $9,604. Other fundraising events held during FMF included a raffle for a stay package for the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac in Quebec held the evening of the Board and Family Physician of the Year dinner, and a raffle for an Apple iPad. These raffles brought in a whopping $3,440. The proceeds will help fund REF awards, scholarships, and family medicine research grants. “Every year we hold the Silent Auction we are overwhelmed by the generosity of those who contribute. This event is entirely made possible through leadership in the REF and CFPC, suppliers to the College, staff, and merchants who embrace philanthropy in their corporate philosophy,” said Sarah Delaney, REF Development Manager.

Did you miss out on that perfect item? Plan now to take part in the REF Silent Auction in Quebec City 2014 and don’t walk away disappointed. Remember, your bid goes twice as far, winning you that unique item and supporting a great cause. See you next year!

The Walk for Docs of Tomorrow was also a great success, raising a record $32,391 for the future of family medicine in Canada. Congratulations to the Memorial University of Newfoundland, the winning Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG), which raised a new record total of $9172. Thank you to all who participated and helped make this event a great success. Lace up your shoes for next year!
