An enthusiastic welcome met the launch of the Besrour Centre at the start of FMF, on Wednesday, November 11th. The Centre, developed after three years of consultation with the CFPC and Canadian and international health care experts, is a hub of global collaboration advancing the field of family medicine and health equity around the world.

Welcome speeches by Besrour Centre Director Dr Katherine Rouleau, CFPC President Dr Garey Mazowita, CFPC Executive Director and CEO Dr Francine Lemire, and founding partner Dr Sadok Besrour were followed by impressive dance and music performances by Collaborative of Black Artists (COBA) and Drumfest International, and a buffet dinner.

A stunning work of art created by Ayşe Kapaklili with Covenant House youth from the Arts & Minds Program was also unveiled. The piece, which captures the essence of Besrour Centre togetherness, equity in health, innovation, creativity, and global community, will be proudly displayed in the CFPC foyer.

The CFPC is looking forward to working with the Besrour Centre to establish family medicine as an effective element of health systems worldwide and as a means of establishing a pathway to better health for all.
