Don’t miss the Thursday keynote address, featuring National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Shawn A-in-chut Atleo. Chief Atleo is a Hereditary Chief from the Ahousaht First Nation and was elected to serve a second term as the National Chief to the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) in July 2012.
Committed to the principles of working together through inclusion and respect, Chief Atleo forged the historic Leadership Accord among First Nations leadership in British Columbia. In February 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his advocacy work on behalf of First Nations across Canada.
Chief Atleo is the recipient of the CFPC/Scotiabank Family Medicine Lectureship award. His address will centre on Aboriginal health and the social determinants of health in Canada.
